A capsule collection of luxe resortwear for looking good all day, every day - by the pool, beach lunches and sunset drinks. Our beach and après-soleil designs focus on an inclusive fit and minimal styling, with lightweight, natural and travel-easy fabrics.

The Summer Edit is a luxe resort brand with a capsule collection of beach and aprés-soleil designs. The brand is the concept of co-founders, and life-long best friends, Janine Bernstone and Renée Green. They simply couldn’t find suitable vacation wear that wasn’t over-sized, over-styled or over-priced. So they decided to create their own.

Meet The Summer Edit: its focus is on fit, pared back styling, realistic sizing and quality fabrics - lightweight, natural and easy-to-pack.

1.Who are you?
We are Janine and Renée - best friends since we were 11 years old (which is quite a long time now!) Although we’ve shared all the key moments in each other's lives, this is our first business venture together.

2. How did The Summer Edit come about?
The Summer Edit started with a conversation - we were really struggling to find the right clothes for an upcoming holiday. Everything we tried was either oversized, over-styled or overpriced for women like us. So we began to discuss the ideal pieces we’d like to wear ourselves and the conversation continued with us sketching up what ultimately became the basis of our first collection.

3. What fabrics do you use?
We always knew that finding the right fabrics would be key to our collection. We wanted to use natural and sustainable fabric where possible, without compromising on a luxe texture. Also anything we chose had to be lightweight - comfortable to wear in warmer climates and easy to pack.

4. Who are your design influences?
We are the ultimate kids of the 80s! And much of our design influence is a nostalgic nod to Donna Karan, early Joseph and Norma Kamali. Their collections focused on versatile draping and tying according to body shape and think we’ve really tried to incorporate this in our styling.

5. What are your favourite pieces?
Janine: I love the GEORGIA beach dress. The crinkle linen fabric is so light to wear - it goes over my swimsuit and looks good without really having to think about it. For the same reason, the ESME hammered silk wrap dress works well on me too.Renée: For me, it’s all about the co-ord pieces. The simplicity of the IZZY and AMY beach shirt and skirt is a no-brainer. And the hammered silk DANI t-shirt and TALYA skirt works the same way off the beach - and love that it looks like a one piece.

6. What’s next for The Summer Edit?
We wanted to keep our launch collection simple and complementary to the rest of any wardrobe - so we kept it strictly monochrome. Now is the right time to drop in a couple of colours, starting with navy and chocolate in some best-selling styles. We’re also adding a fabulous black hammered silk trouser, which will work for everyone. Part of the process is about responding to requests, so we're also adding a size 0 (UK size 8) for existing key styles. These pieces will be available from next month. Our SOLEIL collection will be added to in early 2022 with a new organic chambray - we’re really excited about this and all the new styles!
